Mark McClure
Taking cues from the design and composition of the urban environment – his work draws inspiration and influence from architecture, constructivism and the textures and layered messages that bombard us on a daily basis – whilst challenging what we term “landscape” in the structured, manmade environments we inhabit.
Mark has recently moved from painting to three dimensional works - using found materials which take the geographical nature of his work a step further by tethering the pieces to more specific locations.
His latest work is taking influence from his experience as an interactive designer, with moveable, interchangeable elements that encourage a more interactive experience and involvement of the viewer. This again pushes the landscape nature of his works
through the suggestion that we control, manipulate and customize our own surroundings
to suit our changing needs and desires.
